Hi everyone. I just signed up with this network because I thought it was pretty useful and helpful. Congrats to everyone who got accepted and have decided on where to go! I have an interview at Univ. of Washington next week. I know there are people who have already interviewed there and was just wondering how it was. Any tips? Also, this school is my top choice, but after reading some of the comments on this network, I am getting second thoughts. Why and how did people decide not to go there? Thanks for all the help!

I wouldnt worry about the interview too much, its straight forward and easy, you will go to a confrence room with one (maybe 2) people from the admissions board and they will ask you a few questions. They will then use your answers to fill out a form that they use for everyone. The questions are things like "why do you want to be a dentsit" and "what do you do to improve your manual dexterity" Nothing hard or too thoughtful.
I dont even think that they read my AADSAS or secondary essays.

After that you will probably have to wait for a little while and then you have a lunch with a couple of first years and then a tour. The entire process is a little unorganized. It seems to me that they are very concerned about their stats for the incoming class, and the people that have been accepted so far have had very high gpa and DAT scores.

I am an undergrad at the UW right now, and UW was my first choice, but after seeing the facilities and how things are run compared to other schools it has dropped down on my list.

I also wasn't too impressed with UW at my interview. It didn't seem organized and the people were not as nice as at other schools (ie UOP). I was also very dissapointed when my interviewer asked me if I was planning on getting married int he next couple of years (I am female). That was very weird. Otherwise, the interview was nothing to hard.

mofo, you can sue UW for asking unethical questions like about marriage. Who was your interviewer? PM me if you want to discuss this further. I had an dingus of an interviewer too the first time.

Look past the cheap tuition, bubbles this school is worthless. Would you go to a store with no customer service? Then why go to a school with no student service.

do you know it is your right to ask for a second interview if your first interviewer screwed you over?

Call Kathy and tell her your experience. I will assure you that they will give you a second interview and kiss your feet. I don't know if it will help you, but don't take that bull**** from this school.

I am married and at my UW interview I was told that a lot of marriages have ended because of dental school. Thanks for the worthless info. What does that have to do with me??? It seems strange and illegal that they would pose such personal questions and make such personal remarks.

They definitely did not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Just remember that going to a school only because it's cheap is like getting married for money. And you can't divorce for four years. It's even worse than getting married.
There are always other schools with the same or better quality (probably more expensive) that will make you much happier in the four hardest year of your life.
