Currently interested in either cytopath or hemepath followed by private practice and would like to settle down in California, but need to live in Seattle or NYC for the next few years due to wife's grad school situation.

I liked both programs at the interview, but unfortunately it seems like most grads from these programs stay local, so it's hard to get a sense of how respected they are outside their area. Thanks!

Pathology scene in California is inhabited purely by sharks. These sharks eat everything including the baby sharks right out training (well maybe especially the baby sharks, they are a delicacy). So to answer your ?, landing the fellowship in Cali will be the least of your worries. Flip a coin and be done with it. I dont think either place is that special. Im currently sporting some sizable teeth marks on my back fin.
