For UW Madison students, do most people in your class use laptops? I'm trying to decide if investing in a notebook is beneficial or necessary. Thanks.

BUMP. Any UWisc students out there?

I am strongly considering the Dell 9300.

With that wireless internet access throughout the building, a notebook computer with integrated wireless access would probably be an awesome idea. Then again, if I was going there I'd find myself playing online flash games in class or something. Anyway. Might be useful sometimes.

Not a med student but I study in Ebling Library all the time and the wireless connection is great (infinitely better than College library...for us lowly undergrads). Be careful with the 9300 though...it's a powerhouse and weighs a ton.
It and I should get along well. I am also a ton-weighing powerhouse. 😉

Haha...well if you do get a Dell and you already have your UW ID#, check out the DoIT Tech Store...they have an Educational Purchase Pricing link to the Dell Website so you can save an additional 4% to 12% I believe. (That's on top of their current 20%-30% Inspiron markdowns). I just bought a 6000 yesterday and saved an additional 100 bucks. 😀
Thanks for the tip. I'll check out the 6000 too. Are you happy with it? Screen big enough?
