Can any one help me with these ?s pl

1.What would be a good time to subscribe for U world while doing FA. I am about to start with systems. I prefer a 3 m subscrp.

2. How are the questions organized in U world-those of you who've taken UW. Are they system wise or subject wise?

3. If any one has taken prep courses- how are the lectures placed. Would the lecture go before reading the material or after?

4. I have a goljan2002 ed (hand me down) Should I go for the newer ed or will the Uworld do for updates.I need to decide now before I start with systems.

Good question... I was sorta wondering the samething. At what point do you start doing UWorld questions?? After you ve read for a few weeks? Right after you ve studied the topic? Right off the bat?

i am personally saving it until the 5 weeks of dedicated board prep time i have at the end of classes. i am "taus-ing" now and hope to get through 1x FA by then with a 3 month subscription to Rx to help me "train" after i finish the appropriate FA section.

even at only 50x q's a day for 5 weeks will get me through the qbank.

Uworld separates questions into Divisions (e.g. Anatomy, Path, Physio, Pharm, Micro) and Subdivisions (e.g. Cards, GI, Hepatobiliary, Pulm, Renal). You can create a test of up to 48 questions with any sort of mix between the two that you'd like. You also get to pick the type of questions you'd like to see such as already used, unused, incorrect, and marked.

I've started using it after already having gone through First Aid. It's helped to give me a good background to answer questions and know where to annotate.

Depends on your study style- I preferred doing questions pertinent to what I studied (that way I could write notes and see if any topics were specifically highlighted in the q's that I didn't study much). The uworld q's are pretty representative of the test material, so understanding how the USMLE asks questions and the topics they cover will help your future studying..Of course, doing q's leading up to the exam is essential.

I would think goljan 2002 + q's would suffice for stuff, not a ton has changed in path.

Thanks cgscribe.
I should be doing that then. Just in case would anybody be able to list the additional material in the latest edition of Goljan if not in detail just the topics.

I'm starting uworld this weekend mostly just to keep me motivated and have some hard data to show how I'm making progress or what needs work.

And I think even if I do all the questions before April or May, I will forget enough to get plenty of use out of doing them again.

I started last night and I'm about 150 questions in. I'm glad I started now 'cause 1 or 2 of my classes didn't really teach me what I needed to know to answer board questions. Questions evaporate from my mind as soon as I'm done with them so I think I should be good with using all of uworld 2 or 3 times.

You should probably get the new goljan. The general path section is much better and there lots more high yield notes in the margins.

Around how many questions are there usually for a given sub-topic (GI path, Resp physio, hemo path...etcc).
