Hey everyone, this may be a silly question but I'm curious on your thoughts. I don't plan on starting to use uworld for about 1.5 months from now, but my friend typed up a long list of notes he took from the qbank. I'm trying to decide whether I should start reading them before starting the qbank because I don't really have time for First Aid at the moment, but am thinking that would kind of waste some of the uworld questions. Any input would be appreciated! 😀

If you are in to tracking your performance to assess how you are stacking up against others (ie trying to predict your score) I wouldn't use them initially. Your score will be seriously skewed. My goal for UWorld was go to through initially while taking notes. I would re-read my notes time and time again and slowly saw my average score per section go up. Once through once I then did all questions I got wrong. Then I reset and repeated. I do definitely recommend taking notes though, you are probably not absorbing as much as you think while just reading through the answers.

I have been also keeping a running notes document for Uworld (a fairly detailed one with most of the explanations organized into topics) - is this time efficient and a good idea? I have never really heard anyone say that they do that .. people just say they annotate into FA, but I didn't want to write in FA just yet especially as I feel like my note taking is in excess. Yes, it is taking extremely long to go over the questions, though... not sure if that makes it worth it.

My thought process is that it will become a great review come closer to the exam in which I can quickly review Uworld content.

Any opinions?

(Pinkleton - I'd say don't read over it... chances are his document is very catered to the exam and if you get the questions right - is it because you truly know it or because your short term memory from the document kicked in? It's like reading the answer sheet to an exam and then walking into it - sure you'll do a lot better, but is it because you actually know it? UWorld is a learning tool, you want to be hard on yourself in order to get the most out of it. A falsely inflated score isn't going to serve you any purpose on the real thing.)

Thanks guys, I was leaning towards not doing it but wanted to get some opinions. I'll probably just type up my own notes when I start the qbank. Hopefully I won't overdo it 🙂
