M1 going through an entirely systems based curriculum. I bought uworld on the advice of my advisor and am wondering what a reasonable percentage correct is on a system for someone just finishing up a block? I am just trying to reassure myself I am not a complete *****. Also, how does one do a Uworld journal/is it worth it at this point or should I wait for my second run through in a year?

70+% min

But, I know you’re creaming in your pants bc you’re averaging 30-40% right now.

As for the most effective way to learn from these Qbanks, I keep a word doc for every system for stuff that I miss or just don’t know, as I review through the quests. I average about 2-3 pages for each block.

Im actually right around the mid-60s and theres a lot of things that we never covered or even touched on that I have seen on the qbank, is that normal? I think my document would end up being about 8 pages long at this point. (We are doing cardiovascular now and never touched on vasculitis, myxomas, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy).

You’re doing great.

I've heard conflicting advice on this. Should one even touch UW/boards materials or just leave it for M2?

You're in CV and haven't touched on hypertrophic cardiomyopathy? Please say you haven't finished the block yet

Nope were done. we've talked about All the other cardiomyopathies and concentric hypertrophy in the context of valvular disease and HTN but there was never any mention of the genetic form of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

Mid-60s is great for first pass. You're doing great, keep doing what you're doing and don't get discouraged by your % correct - I would altogether ignore it if you're an MS1. It is completely appropriate to see things you have never seen in your classes in UWorld... and HCM should have been covered in your cardiovascular block, so make sure you watch some B&B or something to catch up.

If a board question has a teenage kid who passes out during a sport and had a family history of sudden death, get an ekg/echo because he’s got hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
