Hi Guys, two questions:

As I finish each topic in First Aid, my UWORLD %'s for that topic are around 70 to 80%. Is that a good mark to hit on UWORLD? (Timed, Random questions just for that topic ie. Gastrointestinal, Cardio etc)? I mean it's freaking hard to hit above 80%, I have done it a few times but its difficult 🙁

The other question I have is that I plan to do DIT in the last 3 weeks along with redoing the UWORLD questions (100-150); And perhaps running through First Aid by myself in the last 5 days along with UWORLD questions I got wrong... is it feasible time wise? Or am I allocating too little time for so many tasks?

Any help appreciated 🙂

if you were doing individualized tests ie. per topic (GI, CVS etc) like you said, my guess is your score is a little inflated... try a randomized, timed block with ALL subjects and topics... that'll be closer to your real grade. Also, have you taken any practice tests? Those should give you an even better idea on where you stand.

Hi Coralis, cool another SGU person 🙂

I did a few random blocks a while back in March of all the topics, I think I was hitting 60%; I think I might do a USMLE world assessment tomorrow morning to get a feel for where I stand.

Hey Gresh, a fellow GND alumnus... I strongly suggest you do TONS of randomized blocks...it's out of your comfort zone, I know.... but the USMLE will not give you 46 Qs on Cardio ... break..... 46 on GI etc.... so you need to do this hard core for the following reasons:
1) get your brain working and used to seeing random organ systems
2) build stamina... so you don't get the "fight/flight response" when you see a bunch of random questions
3) learn to integrate....

Again... I know it's cozy and comfy to stick to things that make you feel good (ie give you a >80% average) but that will hurt you in the long run. Make ALL your mistakes now, sit there... get flustered, get that 50% and LEARN from it.... these "slaps" now make you stronger, if you get "slapped" on the real deal... it'll break you.

Good luck!

Haha, I wish I could do random. I have about 600 questions left, and most of the sections are done.

In retrospect, I am also doing Kaplan Q-Bank as I am doing these questions (pumping out 50-100Q's a day), I could just do random on those since I have a good 1000+ questions left.

Reset or just do all, random and timed.

By the way, DIT would be a real grind to do on top of other stuff in 15 days. I know it has 15 days of lectures, but they are time consuming and you will have a zone out period every now and then.
