uwsa 2 or nbme 16?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
7 days is plenty of time to take both. That being said, context means a lot and if you haven't finished going through FA, Uworld or have glaring weak areas, then obviously your time would be better spent elsewhere. I don't know if 1 is better than the other per se, but I would recommend NBME 16 closer to exam day due to the similarity of the question style. One could probably get more overall utility out of UWSA2 due to answers for every question, but even though UWSA is relatively representative of exam difficulty, the question style will be most similar the the NBME, so if you're only going to do 1 I'd say go for NBME 16.

You have time to do both. 16 is so much like the real exam. It underpredicted my score by 2 points. UWSA2 on the other hand, overpredicted by about 10. I had taken both of those practice tests about a week before my exam.

I've read how everyone says nbmes are really good at predicting your score. I knew it was true because I have a lot of experience with thinking that things are one way when more experienced people here are telling me that it's another. But it's really surprising how good of a predictor they are especially when you take the recent ones near your exam day. Mine were within five points and I took them offline

I thought 16 and 15 were both good. I found 15 to be harder than 16.

I thought UWSA 1 was an easier version of UW questions. Still around my NBME averages.

Did not do UWSA 2.

I think the Free 150 (138) are a good set of questions to do as well. Not very hard but a good sample. Better than older NBMEs.

From my experience, the real deal has more stuff you have to guess on. Experiment type questions. It could be this or that. I never saw that in my review. I got all that stuff mentioned in the Experiences thread. And a ton of pregnant women. To the point, I was like not again. And it is the subject I probably hate most...lol. Not that I do not know some of it but I was like really? Another one?

I prepared my ass off this past week and even did a final 3 day pass of FA to hopefully remember some small detail. Did it help? Nope.

Best thing you can do is prepare good enough and then hope you are thinking well the day of the test. I tend to get nervous and it costs me. Why I wanted to be well over 200 when I took it. I know me and standardized tests....

So just trust your prep and hope you remember stuff from the first 2 yrs and have your thinking brain that day. And just take the damn thing! Let'er rip tater chip!!
