hi all, i recall that we had a discussion concerning a VA optometrist salary. lots of people were wondering why it was so low or what exactly were the figures. after some searching i think i found it !

http://www.govexec.com/pdfs/030404payscales.pdf#search='optometrist%20GS%20grade

as you can see the range (as of 2004) is 44-113k.

it is exactly the same as medical doctors and dentist with the exception that they have a higher grade they can obtain to recieve a higher salary.

This is the 2006 scale. The VA would also add locality pay to this depending on where you live and the cost of living in the area. Locality pay could add up to 28% more.

thxs for the update, it seems that physicans and dentist are on a different scale now. though the numbers for optometrist have stayed relatively the same
