Hey ophtho hopefuls, some vacancies just popped up on SF match

PGY-2 position to begin 7/1/2015 at SUNY Downstate
- looks like someone dropped a spot? not sure.

PGY-2 position to begin 71/2016 at Cook County
- looks like they are going from 3 residents per year to 4 residents per year

Notice cook county just posted a vacancy on 6/10 for a pgy2 in 2015 position

Wonder what SUNY downstate means by a "pre-residency" position. From what I hear, Cook is a known to be a strong program.

Pre-residency positions are just that, positions for people who havent yet completed ophtho residency (aka preresidency fellowships). Good for people who didnt match this cycle, who are taking a year off to strengthen their apps, foreign grads looking to get their foot in the door for US residency positions, etc...
