i only get three weeks of vacation time during my intern year. my intern program finishes june 30th and my advance program starts july 1st. i was thinking to take two weeks off at the end of june to relax and do orientation stuff and randomly take one week off sometime during the year... any advice on how to utilize vacation time during intern year?

I'd be surprised if your intern program allows you to take off two weeks at a time, especially at the end of June. LOTS of people, especially graduating residents, are trying to take off the same weeks for studying for boards and moving for fellowships. They will have priority over you.
