Would the following statement be valid?

A pharmacologist is to a pharmacist, what an anatomist is to a doctor.

Any better examples?

I am trying to help people understand the difference between pharmacist and pharmacologist! I am trying to find an analogy that people will understand 🙂

I'm still having trouble telling people that pharmacists work in other places besides CVS and Walgreens so good luck with that one!

most people don't have a clue what an anatomist is.

how about a auto parts manufacturer to a car parts retailer?

I'v given up at trying to explain anything to the general public nor do I care what they think. Ever since I'v realized that all people are ignorant and stupid until proven otherwise my work life has improved significantly.

mmmmm, I can't imagine this is a common problem. I have never even met 1 person in real life, or on-line, who cared what the difference between a pharmacologist and pharmacist was. Since you do apparently know such a person, I would try to keep it simple. I'd say a pharmacologist does research into new drugs, a pharmacist dispenses and works drug therapy for individual patients. Although, that probably isn't simple enough. Maybe an analogy like a pharmacologist is to a pharmacist what a researcher is to a doctor. Remember, you want to aim for simplicity, not 100% accuracy.
