I've done a student rotation at Vandy and have to say that I really like their residency program. There have been some significant changes in the recent past, but all are for the benefit of the program. The program director (who's been here for about 2 years) is really good. The new department chair is also pretty good. In terms of the MFM changes, my understanding is that one of the MFM's retired (which was totally planned) and then there were two others that were recent new moms and left because they couldn't give all that they needed to a residency program/wanted to have more time with their new babies. So because of that, they brought some new MFMs. These MFMs are good and have a stronger focus on research. As a whole, I think the residents here seem pretty happy. While days can be long sometimes (until 6:30ish at night), the call schedule is really pretty good. Interns and residents get two weekends off each month. I haven't really seen any malignancy or major issues with the program. I really like the attendings here and like the residents.
