Hello everyone,

I just had a quick question regarding vapor pressure and vaporization. I understand that vapor pressure is an equilibrium at which liquid if vaporizing and gas is condensing at equal rates. However, let's say you were heating a liquid. Would its vapor pressure first increase, and then the liquid would vaporize? I'm not sure if they really mean two different things.

The difference is quite minute, and I'm really glad that you caught it. The liquid would first vaporize, and then, the vapor pressure would increase until it reached its maximum vapor pressure for that temperature.
