Hi everyone

I have always been a great fan of the Internet. Its such an amazing platform for all of us to interact, share do's and don'ts,help each other, share joys and sorrows. Imagine we all would probably have never met had it not been for the Internet.

One of the things that has always aroused my curiousty is the varied pattern of Dental Schools in various countries.

-In India, people start dental school at 18,graduate at 23-24,have to undergo a one year compulsory internship and there is no separate licensing exam.
-In Nigeria,I believe, its 6 years and there is a separate internship and exam to get a license
-In Germany, insurance companies require the dentists to have 2 years internhip, though they are qualififed and licensed after 1 year according to the Health Ministry.

I would like to know more about the pattern of dental school in all the countries represented here on the SDN.

If any one of you is willing to spare the time and take the effort to share the info with me,please PM me. You need not reveal your identity, but you do need to tell me your country.

Thanks

Please note that I am doing this to satisfy my own curiousty and not for any commercial purposes.

I have only 2 explainations why I have no reply even after 56 views:

1) There is something very offensive about this querry of mine.

2) All 56 are Indian and hence they do not feel the need to tell me the pattern of dental school in my own country.

Which one is it?

Come on people!

Well, I have seen this thread twice and I am an Indian and have no say 😀 !!!

In Trinidad we have almost the samet hing as in India.
We do Cambridge A levels @ around age 17-20 and then after obtaining good grades can start university.

Dentistry is 5 years + 1 internship.
Automatic lisence upon completion of the Internship period.

well, in Nepal it's similar to india... 4 year course, 1 year compulsory internship but the only difference is u must pass the licensing exam.

In Bangladesh, it's 4 years course, 1 year internship but no licensing exam
