What up, I'm a MS4 at a US med school...I applied to all the programs offering the 0+5. There is a possibility some more programs might get approved in Dec, but I don't remember where I saw this...
Like has been echoed in the GS interview threads (thanks to all the regular posters...), it might be a little early yet to expect any interview invites. I have all of my letters in. There was no way I was going to ask my attendings to write 2 separate letters, one for my GS apps and VS apps, so I just told all of them I was applying to both. I mean, the VS PD's have to realize that we are all most likely applying for Gsurg as well. Also, my school hasn't uploaded my transcript yet; is your app complete?
I haven't rotated at any of the programs, but I would expect you would get great training at all of them. I did go to a Vascular meeting at U of Rochester (posted by vascular2007) and got a chance to meet the now R2, R1 and PD. I have to admit, I was really impressed. All the attendings were very approachable and friendly. There were some Rochester students there and they were all pretty happy with the school. Dr. Illig (PD) was really cool to talk to. He is a big supporter of the new model and really seems dedicated to student and resident education. The R2 and R1 were both very, very smart and helpful. I THINK both of them were U of Rochester grads, so I don't know if they already have U of Rochester MS4 they are planning on taking...
