There are many of us 1st year VCOMers who wish someone would have told us this. There are many good places to live around VCOM. Do your best to avoid living in Blacksburg. Too expensive. There are plenty of good places to live in Christiansburg and it is cheaper. WARNING--AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, like the plague, FOXRIDGE APARTMENTS. It will be marketed to you heavily. That is the large apartment complex you saw on your tour of Blacksburg that VCOM took you on. In fact, that is how many VCOMers end up here in this slum and most do not renew their lease after the first year is up. I won't! They will market their "graduate-professional" housing to you & then let loud, rowdy, undergraduates from VT move in. They tell you that the graduate-professional housing is for well, graduates and professionals only, but that is not true. Avoid the headache or many of you who move in here will regret it. I thought I was the only one until I talked to many of my classmates I know that live here who have the same problems.

BTW- Congrats on VCOM, it is an awesome school.

Thanks for the input Static. Where do you suggest is a nice place to live? I have found a quite reasonable apartment in Blacksburg (The Mill at Blacksburg). The rent is like 535 for a two br and 490 for a one br. I know you said to avoid living in blacksburg, but do you think this is a good place? Where would be a good place to live in Christiansbur? I live in Alabama and it is hard to drive up now to look for a place that you know nothing about. Also, could you tell me how the first block went? I just would like a liitle insight into how the structure of the class is arranged. Are the professors helpful, and so on. Thanks so much for your help, Mark
