I am a senior getting ready to take the MCAT in April. I will be applying to schools for Fall 2009. At the top of my list is VCOM, but I have only completed Orgo I. I go to a tiny school, and had to take another class that was only offered at the same time as Orgo II to graduate. I plan on taking it over the summer, but I won't be able to until after I send off my apps. How bad will this hurt my application? I should be getting around a 26 on the MCAT, and my GPA is a 3.5, so I know I am competitive otherwise. My plan is just to try to do my best on the MCAT, apply, and see what happens...Any suggestions?

I think the best thing you should do is email Megan Price the Director of Admissions at [email protected] and just tell her the exact same thing you posted on this board. She is going to be able to answer your questions better than any of us could.

Be aware that there is some Orgo II on the MCAT, at least there has been for me. Not sure if you have covered Mechanisms yet, but if you haven't you may want to brush up. As far as applying, I would think that as long as you get all your pre-req's done before matriculation you would be ok.

Again, email Megan and she will help.

You should be fine. I was in the process of taking Orgo II during the summer and was planning on taking Bio II and Physics II in the fall last fall when I was applying, and they said as long as they are done before matriculation thats all that matters. I dont think it hurts you really if you havent taken it, application wise, but it really helped having Orgo II on the MCAT the second time I took it.

I think there was a guy who was taking most of his prereqs in this spring and summer and I know he got in even without being sure he'd graduate. You are ok.
