VCU 12/15 Acceptances

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hey everyone,

I was excited to see so many on this thread have positive impressions of VCU, since I'll be interviewing there next month (my first interview! :scared: ) Besides the interview feedback already posted, what tips might you guys have to help me out at VCU? I'd definately appreciate any advice. Thanks everyone!

So I'm out-of-state, and it looks like I've been put on hold for the next round...do my chances improve the longer I stay alive as an out-of-stater? HOw many people do you think VCU rejects each round...how many out-of-state?

thanks, and good luck in January guys...those who got in, CONGRATULATIONS! 😀

in terms of chances improving...i think it depends on how the the next batch of interviewees get scored...if they get higher scores than us, we move down the list again....since we didn't get offers this time, we must've moved up on the list for the next set of offers..but we could move down again if january interviewees get high scores

personally i've resigned myself to the fact that the only way i'm getting in to vcu is off the waitlist, if at all

congratulations to those who have received the good news. And good luck to those who are waiting.

Just a quick question: is the 100 dollar deposit refundable?

I was wondering the same thing myself. Holding a spot in the class would lead me to believe that it is nonrefundable...

I don't know of any case of an allopathic school that won't return your deposit so long as you withdraw before the May 15th cutoff. The standard AAMC process is to keep it only if you withdraw after May 15.

Actually, Ohio State does not refund, but it's a $25 deposit.

Not getting this acceptance from VCU today was a real bummer, it was my top choice, I was really banking on it. I'm totally bummed, I'm not even looking forward to my other interviews. Three interviews so far, and three waitlists.

Good luck guys!!

My condolences 🙁 . You sure earned an acceptance. There are still another couple rounds, so don't give up hope yet!

Thanks Liver. I read about you and VCU, totally sucks. After how well you did there they should have accepted you even without an interview. But who gives about VCU, you got into some kick-a$$ schools already and I'm sure there will be more to come. Best of Luck!!

Hey Guys,

The $100 deposit is refundable - I called admissions after I was offered in oct... so long as you withdraw before the May deadline. Congratulations and hope to see some of you in the Fall!

Hey if you get into VCU, how are you notified? I have a friend who is waiting to hear, and was sent a package he has yet to sign for - he and the postman keep missing each other. Could this be acceptance papers?

Via a status change email and then you look it up online. They only do admits on particular days; December 15 was the last one and January 15 is the next one (please, folks, correct me if I'm not remembering this correctly!).

To my best knowledge, it's at least at the end of jan for the next notification round. I think last year's grp heard around the first week of February.
