hey any of you VCU students out there: what, specifically, did you use your computer for in D-school? on VCU's website they say that dental students need a computer running windows XP Pro or vista, NOT macintosh. the problem is, the staff at VCU that i've spoken with don't seem to grasp the fact that you can run windows on a mac. i do so via Parallels. basically, i'm 98% sure that i can do anything they require of me on my macbook. does anyone have any experience with this at VCU? i don't have a problem buying a new laptop, but if i'm gonna spend that coin i want it to be on another mac. i hate windows, especially the Great and Abominable Vista.

most schools have computer requirements but its not like they check and make sure u have a computer that matches their requirements.....if they do u can always say u have a desktop. as long as u dont have any problems loading up any software they give u it shouldnt matter

that's what i'm thinking, but i'm wondering if people will freak out over the apple logo on front of the computer...lol. i may just take my current macbook to class a few times, and if everything's working out then i'll buy a new one...

Umm, yeah they can. A girl at our school was caught not having the required laptop and was forced to purchase it.

jb!🙂

well, at vcu there are just certain requirements that must be met. they wouldn't make me purchase a certain computer, but my computer has to do what they want it to, which is why i'm thinking i can just install any windows-specific programs on the windows side of the mac....
