VCU DPT pros/cons

Hello!

I was wondering if any current students or graduates of VCU's DPT program could give some insights about the program. They are the only school I applied to that does not have a formal open house or regular tours/info sessions, so I'm trying to get a sense for the student experience there. Other than general pros/cons, I do have a couple of specific questions...

- Are all 54 students in every class together, including labs? Or is the class split up into smaller sections in certain circumstances?
- Do you/did you have access to the clinical experiences that you were interested in?
- In general, given this being a top 25 DPT program, did you feel the environment was more cooperative or competitive among fellow DPT students? (i.e. did students tend to want to help each other succeed or not so much?)
- How close to school do/did you live? Were there students who commuted in from 20+ minutes away, or did most live on/very near campus?
- Do you or any of your classmates work part-time jobs? (I realize all DPT programs discourage this due to the intensity of the course load.)

Hey Cafsh, I am not a student so can't tell you very much about your questions, but I do know that they have open houses--just not on their website. I called Judith Kendrick this summer and she was able to tell me the dates. I'm not sure why they aren't listed on the website, but they do have info sessions periodically!

Hi! I was wondering if you applied early to VCU or did regular decision? I heard that you are not allowed to apply to VCU early if you are applying to other schools, is this true?
