Hi,

has anyone received this email? When they state "this year" am I to assume this year 2004 or this interviewing cycle year? I'm not sure if this is an interview hold notice or a notice telling me that they will interview me but they don't know when. Any thoughts? Thanks

The committee's file review indicates that they would like to consider your file further. We are now in the process of scheduling interviews and will continue to do so through February. Unfortunately, the committee indicates interest in far more candidates than we are able to interview. sounds like a hold prior to an interview. in other words, they will only interview you if they can fit you into their schedules. good luck.

Yes, this was the first time they have contacted me since I was complete. I guess a pre interview hold is better than a rejection 😳.

I had a weird experience with this message. I got it, and thought, ah well, my chances for an interview don't look great...then less than 24 hours later my status was updated to: we have scheduled you an interview on...

So I think it's a standard thing that happens to a lot of people who eventually get interviews. I agree the wording is a little confusing. VCU tries to be really open about their admission process, but sometimes I think they make it more confusing 🙄

Does this show up on your personal status page or on the login homepage? My personal status page just says I'm complete and lists that they have received my recs, app fee, and application. I have been complete since 9/30 but nothing has changed since then. When the committee makes a decision on your status does the list of apps, fee and recs get replaced with a paragraph saying whether you are going to be interview, "on hold" or rejected?

Try 9/24/04. I emailed them to see if I could add another LOR on 10/24 and the nice lady emailed me back on 11/03 and told me it was too late, that they have already sent my file to the committee to be reviewed. So, here it is 11/08 and I still have the "Your MD file in now complete and will be reviewed...." message. But the File Status tab is no longer there, just the other three. And it's been that way since the last week in Oct. I'm starting to wonder if I'm being rejected.

Same position, complete for 1.5 months. I called today and the very nice lady that answered said that usually the adcom meets on Mondays to decide on interview invites, but today everyone is at various meetings out of town. She said my file is ready to be reviewed or is under review or something of that nature.

I just called the school and was informed that it is a 'hold for a possible interview'. I wasn't given any indication on how probable an interview invite would be. Supercluster, I will keep your experience in mind and hope for the best.

I had the same experience as Supercluster. Was complete 8/5/04, got that message and thought I was on hold, next day I received an interview, and interviewed on 10/26. I wouldn't stress over it too much, there isn't anything you can do about it, but if it eases your mind at all they said they were pretty far behind right now so that may be why you haven't heard anything.
