hey guys i was just wondering who has or will be interviewing with VCUCD recently. i scheduled my interview for november 30th. i was wondering if anyone could tell me how their experience was and what to expect. any tips? thoughts? thanks!

Pretty neat school, it has a strong clinical program. You will arrive around 7:30am IIRC. You observe clinic for about 1 hour or so, lab for about 1 hour or so (this is setup between or before or after your interviews). You also have a meeting with adcom staff for about 30minutes and two one on one interviews. Also you are evaluated at lunch with 2 4th year students (not sure how much input they have...). Lastly at some point you have an on site essay to write (one page or so).

Strong clinical program, like DrTaco said. They're in the process of building new DentSim labs. Another thing I liked is that you get to take the boards after your first year while all the info is still fresh in your memory.

The interview process itself was really laid back, and went almost exactly as DrTaco said. The lunch with the 4th years DOES count as an interview. They don't get to sit in with the adcom when it comes time to look at your application, but they submit reviews for the adcom to look at.

I had no problems with the parking attendants. They were actually all very nice. Probably because I'm a chick.

I sent in aadsas on may 18, VCU secondary stuff before june 1 and my interview was in late september. I was invited for an interview about 2 weeks prior to my interview date.

i sent my aadsas in early september, got sent from aadsas to schools october 22, and i heard about an interview november 5. i called today to schedule and the first date available was nov. 30th

Submitted on July 29.
File complete @ VCU around late September. (2 months! Thanks a lot, AADSAS.)
Received interview invite on October 6.
Lucked out and got an interview on October 19 because somebody cancelled theirs. 🙂 I brought my secondary stuff to the interview instead of mailing it in since it was scheduled so short notice.

I am out of state but i did my undergrad in fredericksburg, VA (about an hour from VCU).
