Hi,

I'm new here to these forums, and did some looking around at the other VCU threads, and am not sure if they're talking about the program I'm thinking of. Mainly, I know there are different programs for different situations (Non science majors, GPA/MCAT boosters, gap year students, etc...and I couldnt really tell which one I was reading about in the various threads). For instance I thought I was reading about the program I was interested in, but then saw someone asking about their MCAT...would the MCAT be required for the pre-req pre-med program? I'm not sure I would feel comfortable taking it without more science courses than I currently have...

Anyway, I'm graduating this year with a degree in History, I started off as a biology major but switched after one year, simply because I was your typical confused college student. Anyway, I've decided that I want to pursue sciences and apply to medical school.

I've taken a few science classes (namely Biology, Anatomy) and some of the Geneds required (such as Stats, etc), but obviously most of my pre-reqs arent met for applyign to medical school. For this reason I was looking for information on the VCU program that is geared towards non-science majors that have graduated and are now looking to do their pre-reqs and apply to medical school.

Has anyone here been through that program, or know where I can find more information on it (other than http://www.vcu.edu/uc/prehealth/Prehealthpostbach.htm)

Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanks!

Yeah most of the threads that I have talked on were dealing with the graduate-level Basic health sciences Certificate program (people having already taken pre-recs).

The program you are looking for is the Health sciences certificate program. Why they are so similarly named and why the more advanced one has the heading 'basic' is beyond me. You dont need the MCAT for the program to which you want to apply.

I have a friend who went through the program and got into MCV. Other than that I cant give you too much more info. Wish I could help more. Most of the info I know came from the website.
