So here I am Sunday doing work my chemistry class. I absolutely hate this subject. I have A's in all my other classes but chemistry just eludes me.

How important is it really to know your chemistry stuff in DPT school? Does it factor in a lot?

Anyone else run into this problem with chem? I love all my sciences but this one.

It's not that important in school, so just get through it in undergrad. For me, I loved chem, but it was physics that I couldn't understand.

I'm in the exact same position as dolFAN. I'm doing the second semester of gen chem right now, and even though my prof is awesome I just can't get it. I love all my bio classes, and would much rather be in an anatomy lab, but I know it's just a necessary evil. The real question is why the hell am I voluntarily taking elementary organic chem in the spring....the prof is supposed to be fantastic and I figured it may help my chances, but yeah...I HATE CHEM! haha.

What killed me in chem was the lab reports. Very long and tedious. I won't miss the three hour titration labs at all. I found the info interesting though. Probably will never see it again though.

Gotta say I loved chem and plan on taking orgo when I get the chance. However it was, for me, the hardest of the prereqs. I was an A- student that was knocked down to a B both semesters due to various reasons. One of those reasons being my lab professor being a grad student that never did anything but graded us extremely hard. 10 hours to work on every lab report and still losing 5 points for things like "Your data is too similiar to your lab partners." ..... When we confronted the head of the department about it, we were told the grades would not be changed because that is what the grad student submited and everything would be curved at the end appropriately. That ended up with me, the second highest grade in the lab class, receiving the same grade as the lowest grade in the easiest teacher's class (someone who copied labs, had obviously different and wrong data compared to his group, and spent an hour writing the reports).

Alright I'm done ranting. Chem is tough, just get through and everything will be golden. Good luck!

In the same boat! I'm already accepted into pt school and start in january, but chem II is my last prereq... it's horrible. Bio was fun & interesting, and I even enjoyed my Physics lab a little, but I just really hate chem. Not my thing at all. Only eight weeks left though!!

From what I've heard, it's useless in pt school anyway... just a tough class to weed people out. Hang in there!
