Ok, I have to admit, this has been a bad day for me. I checked my mailbox and found one bill and a stack of junk mail. I got soooo frustrated that I completely trashed the junk mail. It is in a bizzillon pieces. Sigh.

Oh I also yelled at my computer after checking my email hundreds of times today and finding nothing.

GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR😡 😡

Sigh I need a hug🙁 🙁

I know how you feel. This must be the 8th time I have checked email today. I have been home three times and there has been nothing in the mail box. Sometimes we don't get any mail but usually at least pizza coupons. Maybe the mailman was eaten by the mean pitbull that lives down the street. Patience is not only a virtue, but a necessity. Where can I find some?

WHERE HAVE ALL THE DOs GONE ?????

I STILL NEED A FREAKIN DO LETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!+pissed+

We have all been there. I am having flashbacks now as we speak--from two years of empty mailboxes.....until one day....there it was....🙂

Your time will come. hang in there.

you can get a MD letter, if that's more obtainable for you. that's all i got when i applied, and adcoms dont seem too anal about it

The only DO school that I applied to that absolutly MUST have a DO letter is LECOM. All the others just said they prefered a DO letter but would accept MD.

Ah, the good 'ol anal-retentiveness of my school. 😀

Checking your e-mail several times a day and hounding the mailman certainly doesn't sound health. It sounds to me that you are infatuated with the idea of an acceptance letter or interview invite rather than the actual goal itself. How are you going to deal with medical school. Are you one who will sit by the teachers door waiting for your test to be returned? Just relax and enjoy you life. The energy and hours you spend in anticipation should be put to better use learning a new language or all of the countries in the world. You should only check your e-mail once, maybe twice a day. As for the mail, there is really no need to check it more than twice a week, if not just once a week. Your life will not change instantaneously once you learn of the news.

For those who want a DO letter. Look in the phonebook, through the doctors section, and find a DO. Ask, politely, if you can visit with him/her and that you need a letter to apply to medical school. I cannot think of a situation where a doctor would not provide this. Understandable, some docs are busier than others and some are less approachable, but it shouldnt be that bad. Also, for those of you without acceptances (yet), be patient, it is still early. Try and enjoy your last free fall, before you start medical school:clap:

Amy B, I am totally with you. My neighbors don't give me my mail, and I know this because I get their mail and give it back to them, but their are rude and don't give me my mail. I know this since two supplementals were sent and "lost" in the mail. Hard to believe. I called the schools and had them send out to me.

The interview intvites came pretty quickly for three schools, I was rather surprised. I am just curious about those schools that only send snail mail WITHOUT an email confirmation for interviews and whether or not I have been invited. Again, I'll wait a little for those other schools and call them to let them know about my mail siuation.

I know, I have developed an email twitch and obsessive compulsive disorder walking back and forth to the mailbox - especially more possible to do on Saturday since I work during the week. Run or distract yourself when the urge hits you to keep checking mail. I personally turn into Monica and start cleaning anything and everything. Cleaning the bathroom, vacuuming, washing my car, organizing and rearranging my closet!

EReze, I had to search for a DO towrite my letter. I met with him once, and he wrote the letter. It's not stellar, but it was a pretty good meeting, and at least I met the requirement. The other letters should make up for the DO letter that I sent. It was difficult for me to shadow a DO and get to know him/her since I work. If you have any other friends that are applying osteopathic, ask them who wrote their letter, and ask for the number and then that doctor will be more willing to help out. The other option is if their is DO school nearby, call and ask about clinicians. These are willing physicians who want to teach. You might have betterluck with them. Good luck in getting the rec! Stay persistent, it will all pay off in the end.

Why would you expect anything less? 😉

*is glad to be out of Ferretti-land*

I don't expect any less. 😀 I've been in school for a little over 2 months and I've already been frustrated at a few things. But I'm getting used to fort leycom.

Hi, Since you have been at LECOM for two years would you tell me if you have been satisfied with your education so far. Are you learning all you need to learn? Is there anything you haven't liked?

I am interviewing there on 11-3, so I am trying to prepare.

Thanks

I have been satisfied with my education so far at LECOM. I feel that LECOM does a good job of preparing us for our rotations. Attendings have told me they enjoy LECOM students because they have been so well prepared. The school has its weaknesses, but overall I have been satisfied with LECOM. I'm doing pretty well on pimp questions from attendings so they must have taught me something.

But some rules and other things about LECOM are just entertaining for us LECOM'ers  Hence my calling "Ferretti-land." and Dr_sax calling it "Fort Leycom."

The security of the school and some of the administrative policies are JOKES. Everything else so far has been cool beans.

I'm an MS1 at LECOM, and just like Dr_Sax and others have said, so far I've found LECOM's education to be solid. The anatomy professors are willing to go out of their way to help you (some even stay till 7 at night if need be), which I think is important when looking at the curriculum of a school. I'm also in the ISP (Independent study pathway) at LECOM, and we are just getting our feet wet, and so far my experience has been that the facilitators are also willing to meet with you whenever you are having trouble with a concept. Just be sure never to eat in the study rooms... Super steve will come and find you and ask you to "remove the food and take it to the appropriate area" 🙂

Good luck with interviews!
