Hello everyone,
I've been scoring about 9/10 on EK Verbal passages (the lowest I've ever gotten is a 7). I'm also averaging about a 8 on Kaplan verbal passages.

BUT - my AAMC verbal scores are very low..like 5/6! Any suggestions on what I should do?

Thanks,

My suggestions:
1. First of all, have you figured out why you are missing the questions that you are missing? Are you missing the author's point? Are you misinterpreting what they say? Are you putting in your own knowledge/bias instead of listening to what the author is saying? Assess what your issue is, and try to get ahead of it. Maybe clear your head before you start each passage - don't think of the previous passage. Maybe you need to pretend that you are listening to a lecturer talk about the subject.

2. Read this sticky on Verbal Strategies: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=803769.

3. I went through EK myself, and was consistently scoring 9s-11s. However, I didn't get as much out of that as I am now as I work through TPRH's verbal. See if you can find one from a SDN-er. The passages are a little tougher to read/understand (more political, more eloquent, etc.). I didn't need help answering questions (which is what EK does, I think), I needed help understanding passages (which TPRH gives me the chance to practice reading comprehension with denser material).

Hope this helps a bit.
