Verbal Sinking Fast

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
hey there,

that happened to me too, but i'm taking it saturday so unfortunately i can't tell you whether or not there was a happy ending. but, considering there are two days until the test it would probably be in your best interest to chill out and try to relax because there's not enough time to learn how to read well (this was my problem, i truly believe the only way i could increase my vr is to go back in time and throw my nintendo out the window).

just relax, be confident on test day and give it your best shot. really that's all any of us can do.

You wouldn't be the person you are today without that Nintendo. Screw VR.

I've been seeing a drop in my scores as well. It's quite the enigma. If I could do it over, I would listen to all those people that said don't do practice exams towards the end - even if I did pay for them and never use them.

I vote for the confidence suggestion by modelslashactor.

Caboose.

Yeah it seems like everybody has noticed that about VR with 6, 7 and 8. But it's just a scaled score, who knows if it will be anything like that with the people taking it this time. My personal strategy will be getting all the questions right, eliminating the need for a good curve 🙂

I did my worst on AAMC 9 also. All of my other scores have been acceptable though. Hopefully, Saturday will look more like AAMC 8 verbal!

11's on 7 & 9

9 as well on 8

Chalk that shizzle up to not being focused and kick arse with a 13 on the real deal.

Take care,

Charlie

I think it may be a subconscious overconfident thing. In the beginning you score high because you're nervous, but as you see that you've been consistently scoring high, your focus may decline without you even knowing it. Just keep focused and alert on the real thing; easier said than done.

 I think you are right, i noticed that barely stop to paraphrase paragraphs in my head lately, something I used to do before, because I just assume I will know the answer

After you've taken 5-8 practice tests it's hard to take them seriously, especially the VR which SUCKS 👎 . Your motivation will be different saturday. All the nervous energy you started with will be back.

agreed, thanks emh

Got the same problemo, focus more on review the sciences because doing anything with VR now will not help...

I had that problem 2 years ago, I noticed a VR drop and for 3 weeks before the MCAT I did not even looked at the science and did only VR.... my score did not improve on the VR on the mcat but my sceinces did suffer...

forget bout VR till tomorow, and concentrate as hard as you can on it for that 1 hour and 25 minnutes!!

wow, this is the exact same thing that happened to me. I was doing poorly in PS, so i focused all my time to reviewing that. Last night i sat down to kind of wind-down with some EK101 verbal passages and completely bombed them. So where-as verbal used to be my strongest section, it is now killing me. Oh well, nothing to do now but relax and hope that i dont find my mind wondering off on the real thing.

Good luck to everyone.
