Please help me decide between UCF and UVM (CT clinical campus)!
Interested in EM IM or surgery. Strong passion for global health. Looking to match in the northeast.
Thank you in advance!
Vermont 340k COA
UVM pros:
P/f pre-clinical and clerkship and no ranking
More established school (well-known faculty)
1.5 year preclinical
CT Campus for clerkship
- good rotation sites
- diverse patient population
- more urban
- small class (30 people)
- impressive matches
Mission fit (global health, public health)
UVM cons:
Will have 150k loans by graduation
Away from family
No direct flight from Orlando to Burlington
Not as great quality of life compared to Orlando
Won't' have a car for first 1.5 years
UCF 190k COA
UCF pros:
Will graduate with no loans
<40 mins from family
New facilities
Weather is better
Matches above its rank
Research required to graduate — school will help find a project
UCF cons:
Graded pre-clinical (though it could help differentiate myself during residency apps IF I do well)
Sorted into percentiles for clerkship
Newer school (not as well known)
Rotation sites not with Orlando Health or Advent but with HCA
