How many of you work an inpatient gig for 4 days (M-Th - basically your full time gig) and dabble in outpatient 1 day a week on Fridays? How has it worked out for you?

I've looked for that and not found it, the problem is that hospitals don't want a four day a week inpatient attending because somebody else needs to see them on Friday. I do have colleagues who have reduced their FTE (in the academic setting) so they are only doing inpatient 5 days a week with zero clinics and going home early. Not sure how well that works.

More common to take a hospitalist approach and work 7 on 7 off and see outpatients every other week (if you want to work like a mule and make a lot of $$) or simply work a regular 8-3ish inpatient job and see patients 4-7 in a clinic.
