Ok guys heres the deal: I didn't match into ERAS for this year into PM&R which was the specialty I was considering. I tried during the scramble process and couldn't find anything. I had made a contact with some professor at some other university to work out the possibility of doing Research with stipend for one or two years. He just answered me that the training grant score he received won't be allowing him to recruit a fresh recent Graduate MD. I also got back the unpleasant surprise of not passing my USMLE STEP 2 CS. It was the CIS component which supposedly I failed. (Spoken English part was OK.). Heres the DEAL I am an economical BURDEN for my DAD and he won't be willing to mantain me for another year. I currently don't have any other ideas of what I could possibly do during this year. I need to earn some salary. I tried for some transitional programs during the scramble process. I couldn't get any. I still don't know if there are any other PGY-1 Transitional Year Openings at some other place. I would be lying if I sayed I had an exceptional academic Record. My grades are Mediocre. I, however, passed my USMLE STEP 1 and 2 w/o failing them. I go to AAMC accredited Med School so I wouldn't be considered Foreign. Although, this is the impression committes get when they see the name of the school. I have tried looking for some Pharmaceutical openings, but I haven't had any success. What suggestions could u guys give me. Also, If I were to Apply early for the ERAS 2006; I would still need to have passed my USMLE STEP 2 CS. I really don't have much more money at this moment to afford to pay for this exam again at a such short notice. Should I just chill out for a year? What other suggestions could u guys give me. Will not having passed the USMLE Step 2 CS affect my chances of not being considered at some residency programs. Thanks for your time and attention.......

What school did you graduate from, just out of curiosity? AAMC accredited, but foreign-sounding name?

aren't there always some unfilled malignant prelim slots? Why not just take one of those for the time being? Then you can reapply for PMR, and if you don't get in a second time you'll have many more options for what to do next b/c you'll have your license to practice medicine.

Also, my condolences on step II CS, that test was complete crap!

Yeah the Med School is in Puerto Rico. Malignant Prelim Spots? Where can I get a list of these? Do u know of any service or website I could look or check out to try to find one of these residency positions?... Thanks for your attention.
