Very late academic update

Does sending the academic update late, like middle of January, look bad? My school releases fall semester grades in January and I won't be able to send the transcripts until then.

Wow! I mean, not about your AU, but the fact that your school releases grades so late!!!! I would die of curiosity. Mine released today and I have been logging in thrice a day for the past two weeks and around 10 times today. I wouldn't be able to wait until January!!!!

I don't think so. If they have the AU period until February, it's because they are aware of some schools doing that.

My brother had a similar situation and he didn't have any problems getting into dental school. I'd release what you have including your DAT scores and letters of recommendation so the committee can review and then send the update in January. This way, your application isn't held back.
