Is it just me, or is the optometry thread the most depressing one? It seems that this thread has the most compaints and grievances on it by far.

We should get some polls up or something. Something to show that we have some semblance of personality.

There is also a dearth of pre-opt students. The DDS and MD forums have about 15-60 TIMES the amount of current browsers at any time. I'm sure with readership like that, you're bound to find much more interesting--irrelevant, even--posts.
There's one thread (unstickied) in the pre-dent forum thats five years running and has almost 1500 replies!
We should start a weekly joke thread and try to keep it alive for the years to come. It'll be almost like a yearbook! We could also just have a "yearbook" thread for people to post up information about themselves with requisite myspace/facebook style "pix." Guys can post up pictures of themselves, arms crossed, next to exorbitantly priced cars, smugly displaying "their" mode of daily commute. Girls who are a bit more camera shy can post out of focus, multiply filtered pictures with face out of frame and contrast overworked. All others can use the standard, grainy, low-light webcam picture with eyes clearly focused on the computer screen (not the camera) and complementary screen glow distorting their faces into a pool of blue or red.

Okay, I've spent enough time away from my studies. Back to the OAT books during my uneventful winter break. Life is good... 👍

but then again, i'm not visiting other threads because Pre-opt is the only thread I'm really interested in since my goal is to go to Opt school. I think it's perfectly "okay" to express one's opinion, even if it seems sad and depressing to others. Most importantly, we're exchanging valuable information and only trying to help one another, and guess what? we don't even know eachother! In fact, most of us are competing for the same schools. Now that's priceless. I'm just happy to know that there is a Pre-opt thread, because it's helped me out a lot..I hope it has helped you out as well.

The dental and medical forums do not have many practicing doctors posting, its mostly just the students. The only thing they have to complain about is the difficulty of school and admissions. The optometry threads have many ODs that post frequently. They are usually the ones that are posting about the doom and gloom of optometry. I'm sure that if more practicing doctors posted on the other forums there would be more real world negative stuff like there is on this forum. But yeah, it can definately bum you out.

• People complaining about the lack of respect from fellow health practitioners (sometimes the result of insecurity).
  
  
• People endlessly bashing others for going into commercial optometry (to the point where the arguments/insults become personal ones).
  
  
• The fact that on the optometry forums, there are less than 20 people signed on at one time (and less than 15 most of the time).
  
  
• The lack of humor in most threads.
