I wanted to throw this question out. I'm currently a hospital pharmacist and my wife is a Veterinarian. We own a veterinary hospital and I am toying with the idea of adding veterinary compounding as separate business. If I remember correctly back to my law class, I think there was a legal grey area about owning a pharmacy while being married to a provider. I don't know if this was purely medical doctors but I'm curious to see if anyone knows anything about this. Thanks

I think a 2 minute phone call to your state BOP would clear this up very easily.

Physicians are not supposed to require patients to fill prescriptions at a pharmacy they own. They can, however, dispense. Hospitals can have drug rooms that they own and operate. It seems doable, if you walk the straight and narrow. But again, I think a quick call would be your best source of a definite answer.

When my spouse was going to do derm residency we actually considered something similar - ie I would work part time elsewhere and then the compounding pharmacy would be open short hours daily and I'd compound or dispense all the creams, etc

So did you end up starting it up? If not what stopped you?
