So in preparation for our upcoming interviews I thought it this would be an appropriate thread.

What current events in veterinary medicine do you thing will be discussed in our interviews?

Does anyone know of any websites or other resources that would be helpful and informative?

Thanks,

Karlee

Proposition 2, horse slaughter, BSE, animal rights, and avian flu were all discussed during my interview at OSU.

I learned a lot from googling and doing general research on those topics before the interview, and the AVMA site is a good source for news related to those issues and topics.

If you read Dolittler, she wrote a good post a few weeks ago related to other issues: http://www.dolittler.com/2009/01/04...’s-top-ten-issues-in-veterinary-medicine.html

It was mentioned to me to brush up on some of the dog food scares a little while back and just from visiting schools I know that NCSU performed the first bone marrow transplant in companion animals and have established quite a procedure for prosthetic limbs in companion animals. Penn does kidney transplants in cats and has a program where the donor cat must be adopted with the kitty receiving the transplant. It was very interesting...at least to me 😀
