  1. Pre-Veterinary
Hi all,

I am very new to this forum and have only posted a few times. In our Pre-vet club we have found it is difficult for members to find veterinarians to get that needed experience.

We contacted several different groups, one being the Washington State Sheep Producers. They offer a yearly lambing school that is taught by a veterinarian.

Yesterday, our club attended one of the three classes offered, and it was amazing. 7 hrs of intense animal experience. We lost count of how many lambs we helped pull. Yes elbow deep in ewe. I highly reccomend contacting these producers to see what they offer. We were even envited to the Dr.'s ranch to help her with their lambing season. I will post pictures soon.😀

When i was searching for experience i found that many vet practices were reluctant to take on volunteers due to insurance reasons. I thought for awhile that they were worried i'd hurt/kill an animal and they would be liable. I found out later that most practices are more concerned that YOU will get hurt/killed and the practice will be liable for your medical bills/pain suffering. To get around this i would "sign my life away" before volunteering, stating in a legal document that i would never sue them for anything etc. etc. That seemed to clear a lot of roadblocks for me.
