For my personal curiosity and to see if there are better alternatives to the use of teaching animals at our respective veterinary schools, I am wondering this:
- what kinds teaching animals do you have at your school (species, #s)
- what are your teaching animals used for? (clinical labs, junior surgery, etc)
- are there any animal welfare related issues you wish you could change/improve?
- are there alternative methods you have heard about and would like to have implemented at your school?
- what is the general opinion about the use and care of teaching animals at your school amongst your classmates?
Any responses, whether public or private (via PM) will be greatly appreciated - I don't need to know your school's name if you wish to omit it either! Thanks to all!
