Depending on the type of practice that you have, you may have other controlled substances stored in your office that require a lockbox and if so, I don't think adding a few Vicodin will have much of an effect on your liability insurance or risk of being robbed.
However, 800 mg of Ibuprofen along with the previously mentioned long acting LA should tide your patients over until they are able to fulfill their prescription. This is what I do for thirds, FMX's, alveoloplasty's, tori removal, infections etc. It should more than cover what you will typically encounter as a GP.
