I spent time out there and still didn't get an interview. Not quite sure why - I was told when I was there that I should have no problem getting an interview.
However, I was told later after not getting the interview that you need to have something that REALLY stands out about you or some ties to Boston. Someone from my school with an academic record less competitive than mine got an interview, but she has family in Boston or something, and she also spent time in another country setting up a health clinic. She took the interview and felt like she was being grilled the whole time, i.e., "Why should we take you over the next person? What makes you different than other candidates? Do you think you can handle the pace?"
I guess you need to ask yourself how important the name is to you. You will, as the previous poster said, get fantastic training and the name will follow you for the rest of your career. However, there are a lot of great programs out there where you will get great training, and you need to decide if you want to put up with the *atmosphere* at Boston. I don't mean to sound like sour grapes, but I probably wouldn't have gone there even had I gotten an interview.
Good luck.
