dont want to imply that its me but is it worth it to apply? please be brutally honest. please hold the sarcasm... thanks 🙂

for someone say...
applied early
3.65 gpa
3.55 sci gpa (one F as a result of the academic dishonesty however an A after retaking)
22/22/22 DATs
tons of everything plus publications in dentistry
and completed a one year's masters program with similar academic success

ohh... i did not see the F as a result of academic dishonesty.

dont know too much about it. maybe ask your conselor to see how it will be viewed as in a professional school prespective. Although, it for sure puts you at a disadvantage. The only question is by how much. apply, and if you get interviewed, be ready to explain it. (Better be a good reason too, like you didnt cheat, but knew someone who did, but failed to say anything about it. you know.. an "innocent" bystander.)

you = that person who had the violation.

You've gone to a lot of trouble to get this far - it would be silly not to try.

You'd better have a really good explanation about that F, though. And I wouldn't wait to be asked about it. That's the sort of thing you had better try to turn in your favor. You made a mistake, an error in judgment under some sort of extenuating circumstances, whatever, just be sure you can explain it in a way that they can be sure it will NEVER happen again and that you've come out of the experience a better person.

Anything about you that may be perceived negatively, except maybe pedophilia, can be made to work in your favor if you work at it.

I don't know if I would voluntarily bring up the academic dishonesty thing if it is never asked about. If it is, I would be honest and say how much you've learned and how that kind of thing has never happened again and blah blah blah. There aren't many ways to get kicked out of dental school (unlike some law and med schools, there isn't "weeding out" and the schools actually look better the more students they retain.) However, some of the few ways are: academic dishonesty, disrespecting gross anatomy cadavers, lying w/ pt records, blatantly wrong misconduct, etc. So it's important to be cautious.

Good luck! I would definitely still apply, if you haven't already.

several dental schools of late have suspended or kicked out students for cheating...

I would go for it anyway, you have nothing to lose. Live and learn.

Pretty sure they ask that in the application. However, they make it a point to say that you won't instantly be disqualified.

If you want to be a dentist that bad than I bet no one can stop you. So I would try, but don't think about sugaring up the situation if you get into an interview. No white lies, don't sugar coat it, be frank, honest and be ready to explain what you have learned from it and how it has changed you and how you won't cheat again.

I agree.

I'd probably be honest about what happened and then explain how you learned from it, and that you would never, ever, ever, ever do it again
