hi all-
i see many MSTP programs accepts letters directly to them or via virutalevals. I'm not really familiar with virtualevals, however, my school has a career services center where your LOR is sent to the service, and the services sends the letters for you. do you think this is OK? thank you!

Yeah. At my school this is the only way to send LORs (as it happens, the old pre-health advisor founded the service), and I have had absolutely no problems. It's been really convenient and schools have all been accomodating.

awesome! thanks for the advice. did you contact the schools to let them know this, or just send them? I'm from UNC-CH BTW... I hope this doesn't affect our SDN discussions:laugh:

Most schools I did not contact, but if my letter status wasn't complete after a couple of weeks I would contact them and just let them know that my letters had been posted to VirtualEvals and they could access them there at their convenience.

UNC eh? What's up with your mdapps--where all are you applying?

yeah, i deleted my mdapps last year and haven't taken the link off! oh well. i'm applying to a wide range of schools (~25). so you used BOTH virtualevals AND the reference file service at Duke? I was thinking I would only use the reference file service at UNC. When you say VirtualEvals, you don't mean your reference file serivce at Duke, do you? sorry, i'm slightly confused. I don't want to have to do virtualevals if i don't have to, but from your post i feel like i should do that in addition to my reference file service.

I'm not sure what you mean by "reference file service" because we don't refer to it like that. What happens at Duke is that applicants have their recommenders send the recommendations to the pre-health office, who collates them, writes another summary letter based on all the recommendations and other info (essays, interview, etc.), and then posts the letter packet to VirtualEvals where it is accessed by med schools.

I hope this helps!
