does anyone think having vision science research adds to the application? its not really specifically optometry related but it does connect. Just wondering cause I already worked in a vision science lab last summer and this summer while taking 3 summer courses, I was wondering whether I should volunteer in another vision science lab. Would it really matter since I already have experience in that area? Should I just focus on school? Thanks!!

of course it'll help. It doesn't matter if you coach a little league team, it's still volunteering and adds toward your app.

As for doing it again, I would look at your course load and see how you did last time. If you feel as if it took away from your courses and you could get A's instead of a B here or there, then I'd move on away from it. I don't think it would really matter if you had the same volunteer for one extra summer, as long as your grades are good. I have 9 years optical experience. I doubt they would view that differently, if for example, I had 6 years experience. LOL. Just my 2 cents though.
