My SO and I will be visiting Oz in March, and would like any recommendations on places to go, things to do, etc. Although we've read travel books and the like, it's always great to hear from those that actually live or have visited there. We'll visit the following cities during these dates: Perth 12-16, Sydney 16-20, and Melbourne 20-24.

So far I've arranged a visit to Murdoch and will be attending the open day at Melbourne on the 21st. Still haven't heard back from Sydney on how to arrange a visit, but will try contacting them again soon.

Thanks in advance for your help and hopefully I will get to meet some of you! 😀

OMG I studied abroad in Oz and LOVED IT!!! I lived in Melbourne for 5 months (awesome city) and traveled along the east coast of Oz for the last 2 weeks of my stay there. My favorite was Melbourne of course and Cairns where I snorkeled on the great barrier reef. Cairns is really cool and I enjoyed it a lot. I also liked Bundaberg (awesome liquor factory there)...gosh I went to so many places and this was so long ago (two years) I forget where I went and what I did. If you have an specific questions about Melbourne though please feel free to PM me. 🙂

ocean road s. of melbourne (amazing), the platypusary in Healesville (40m out of melbourne)

the old parts of sydney, built into the rocks. the opera house. the beaches across the bay. long drive, but mon repos turtle rookery was amazing. blue mountains, can't imagine just how 'blue' they are until you see them.

perth is wine country. I loved the people in perth.

decent zoos in all three.

you will be hard pressed with a tight schedule to see many of the amazing things. I do suggest using some of the homeopathic OTC jet lag remedies; I had a lot of success using those...and hopefully you have a few days to recover when you come back.

Thanks so much for the tips! This is all very helpful information. I wish we had more time - it's so hard to narrow down what to do in such a short time.
