Will it help me in anyway to visit in and out of state schools? Will any of the admissions staff put that into consideration?

It helps you decide, but that's about it. And you will have to visit them anyway if you get an interview with the exception of some schools.

I haven't heard of any schools that actually tally up the number of times you visit a school. 🙂

Of course, knowing someone on the adcom well helps but it doesn't guarantee anything.
