Does anyone know how serious we should take the VMCAS suggestion of submitting 2 weeks early?? I'm almost done with my app but don't think I will submit until Friday...should I be worried? It mentions something about the system locking up and having lots of problems due to high traffic....has this happened before??

Im not proud of this but... last year I submitted the application the day before the deadline. Everything was fine - the only thing I noticed was the site was VERRRRRRRY slow (I assume it was because so many people were logged on?). It took like 10 minutes for each page to load, which really scared me, but everything worked out.

I submitted my app within hours of the deadline (not entirely sure why, but I am a professional procrastinator). It was totally fine. The site was fine. In fact, one of my evaluators actually turned in her ELOR late (by half an hour) and even THAT was fine. SO, moral is, no stress 🙂 Good luck!

Wow, that is intense. I think I would have had a stroke and not been able to submit my application in time if I waited until the very last minute! I personally do not have that much faith in technology.

I would not wait until the day of or even the day before to submit VMCAS. I would submit in time to correct any errors in that, if for some reason your credit card company fritz's out on you or you come down with swine flu or the black plague and are unable to press that button.
You never know!!!

But like tPad40 said, I don't think the system is going to implode if you submit within the last two weeks. The site says something like "85% of applicants submitted within the last two weeks" well, if 85% of applicants submitted, then I would say a few thousand people did not have any problems.

i think if you're going to submit by this friday you'll be fine. i'd say the traffic will really start to pick up this weekend and be crazy through the deadline. don't stress, you'll get it done!

haha wow thanks, it's reassuring to know that people waited so late last year and everything was fine...I definitely plan on getting it in by friday so sounds like i'm safe. geez i'm a pretty bad procrastinator myself and I couldn't imagine waiting till the last day, I would be freaking out!! glad to hear that it worked out though, more power to you haha.

I'm pretty sure I submitted within a half hour of the deadline last year. It was slow and somewhat frustrating the last few days, and sometimes I had to hit "refresh" several times before a page would load, but I made it.

However, I'm guessing that the only reason I didn't get totally screwed is that VMCAS' warnings scared alot of other people badly enough that they submitted earlier. I'm sure if everyone gets complacent and procrastinates like I did, bad things will happen...

I think it'll be okay. Slow, but okay. I'm STILL waiting on one of my evaluators to turn in a letter and I'm going nuts sitting on this application.
