VMCAS GPA vs. Overall Cumulative GPA from University

So my VMCAS GPA is a 2.98 but my university cumulative GPA is 2.79. Which GPA are schools actually going to take into consideration? Which GPA is weighed heavier in the application process?

Totally depends on the school. Some calculate their own GPA(s), some use VMCAS GPAs, some don't use cumulative GPA at all ...
