Hi,
With VMCAS down, I can't answer this question for myself!

I have written down that the personal statement has a 600 word limit, but I don't know how it works exactly. Will it literally cut off to 600 words, or is that meant to be a guideline for us?

My personal statement is currently 663 words... I don't know whether to worry or not!

I know with the character limit, it cuts you off. My guess (but I might be wrong) is that the word limit works the same way.

Good Luck!! :luck:

thanks - that's what I thought, but I needed someone else to kick me in the butt and tell me to be ruthless!

The deed is done - I'm at 592 words, and ready to submit! wooohooooo!

Good job and congrats!

It won't cut you off; it's just a guideline. Mine's 640 something.

I wouldn't cut you off? Last year, it DID cut you off, so I made sure it was the 600 or less when I wrote it to make sure. Oh well!

Better make sure you are under 600. It will let you paste it in if you are over 600, but if you try to change anything a pop-up will tell you that you are over the word limit. 600 seems to be a pretty definite limit.

Damnit. I really don't want to hear that. Not to mention VMCAS is completely screwed up right now, and I can barely log on.

My essay was over 600 words ( about 630 ) and it did not cut me off...I tested it out with about 700 words but the pop up came up saying it was over the limit.

The guidline is 600 words but there is a disclaimer stating that it might vary when using a word processor.
