I'm buying a new imac and have a software question. I'm going to purchase windows to run on it so I can use a few programs my school necessitates and want to buy VmFusion so I can run windows as a virtual machine. They are selling a regular version and an academic version but have no explanation on apple.com of what the difference is. Does anyone know????

I don't think there is a difference. Just remember you still have to buy a copy of Windows as this is not included with the virtualization software.

I've heard good things about Fusion. I have Parallels and it works great, but some of my friends speak very highly of Fusion.

No difference between the two versions except for price. I'm running the beta version of VmWare Fusion 2 and it runs perfectly. Don't think you have anything to worry about.

Thanks y'all!! I've been researching and have heard better things about VMfusion than parallels. I went to the best buy yesterday and harassed their apple guy with questions for a good bit of time and played with the program. I love that you can freeze it and then go right back to where you were!

The last place you want to go for computer information is Best Buy, trust me.

I picked up a copy at the Apple store. Fantastic service.
