Hi guys

For those specifically in private practice. Are you using something like DRAGON MEDICAL to help with typing?

I'm used to using NUANCE. Prior to that the hospital I was working on used Dragon.

I know it's expensive. Is it just a one time fee or is it a recurring fee?

Any help with what you all used with be great. Also how much is it?

Our practice got CSpeak (Clinically Speaking), which apparently uses the same tech/dictionary as Dragon and is compatible with Powermic mobile. AFAIK it's significantly cheaper than Dragon, and in my experience isn't any worse.

I found that using a good sound card adapter and microphone are essential for accuracy in dictation. The difference between these and using something like AirPods Pro is significant.

We have dragon and nuance “PowerMic mobile” app for iPhone. They work exponentially better than dragon circa 10 years ago when I was in residency. The mobile app in my iPhone 11 is far better than the dictaphone, impressive really.

I've been using Dragon Medical for the past few years and it works really well. The only problem is it is no longer being supported on the Mac platform (why I have no idea) so I've been using my copy purchased in 2016 and loading it on my MacBook.

I use Dragon Medical Practice Version 2.0

I think the EMR you have will impact how useful it is

My EMR is Modernizing Medicine, which is supposed to be heavily templated

I use Dragon to add information into the HPI section quickly

Also, I save "commands" where I can say a phrase and have a fully templated macro populate a section, i.e. "Dragon Epidural Risks"

Bad news is that Microsoft bought Nuance and now the newer version will be software as a service, charge some high monthly fee

Buying Dragon software and a Powermic off Amazon isn't some huge investment and may either save you time or improve the quality of your notes, try it

And if anybody knows about Modernizing Medicine let me know

Oh, and to add to what pastafan said, I use a gaming computer because I am convinced it makes everything with Dragon faster

and the keyboard changes colors

But can you play any games on the keyboard while your patient goes off on a tangent
