I've gone on 4 volunteer mission trips to Mexico over the last 4 years (10 days each, 40 total.) Things that I've done there range from going to orphanages to help take care of the children there to speaking to people at a drug/alcohol rehab group. The primary focus of the trip was not health care, but it did come into play. Should I just pick out an arbitrary number of hours for each day (like, 12 or whatever) and tally them up? More importantly, this is probably something good to add into my application, correct?

I think that would look awesome on your application.

Feel free to tell the adcom about your experience, because whatever you write down is just another opportunity for the adcom to get to know you. Also, you will be amazed how much of a confidence boost it is, if adcom brings it up during your interview, and its something you want to talk about.
